During his more than 40-year career in executive search and organizational consulting, Steven has completed thousands of search and consulting assignments in the global real estate industry. Running Rhodes as president while actively conducting high-level executive searches, he is particularly proud of the firm’s industry-leading 95%+ success ratio, which includes search completions and retentions.
The key to this achievement, he says, is “helping companies become more successful businesses and guiding professionals to build successful careers.” More than just search, it’s about having the diagnostic skills and experience to help clients develop the most effective organizational structures, teams and individuals that support the business’s approach and philosophy. “We help them figure out what they really need,” says Steven. “Our systematic process is what separates Rhodes from the others. Recruiting is simply the end result.”
Steven developed his knowledge of real estate as a founding partner of two substantial businesses, which were responsible for more than $1 billion in real estate transactions – Rockwood Real Estate, an advisory and investment firm, and Rohman Development, a developer/owner of multifamily units. He also started and led for a number of years the global real estate practice at IRC Global Executive Search Partners.
Earlier in his career, Steven gained relevant consulting experience and skills in Human Resources when he worked for two major corporations, including Federated Department Stores. He is an active member and supporter of the Urban Land Institute.
During her more than 30-year career in executive search and organizational consulting, Jane has helped many of the world’s leading real estate companies recruit their most successful executives as well as entire teams. Her scope includes serving clients in banking, commercial lending, investment, and private and public owner/developers.
An important part of Jane’s work is mentoring young people who are interested in pursuing opportunities in the real estate business. This involvement includes speaking regularly about the industry to undergraduate and graduate groups at Columbia University and NYU. “I like being accessible to help young people develop their talents and structure their career paths,” she says.
In addition to nurturing talent and career opportunities for candidates, Jane also provides strategies to help her clients retain top performers. “The best run companies actively manage careers internally,” she notes, “and we are committed to helping them. We care and take very seriously our responsibility to impact lives and careers.”
Remaining active in leading industry groups is another way Jane carries out her mission. She is past president of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) in New York, and she sits on the Retail Council of the Urban Land Institute, a non-profit that provides leadership in responsible land use and the creation of thriving communities. Jane is also an active member of the Pension Real Estate Association and Mortgage Bankers Association. She earned a BA from the University of Maryland.
Lisa Flicker is a Partner at Rhodes Associates. With over 20 years of global real estate executive search experience, Lisa enthusiastically drives the search process from inception to completion, including client management, creating search strategy, and candidate development.
With an emphasis on placing women and underrepresented minorities, Lisa is focused on introducing her clients to appropriate diverse candidates as an integral part of every executive search. Lisa sits on the Board and is extremely active in both Project Destined and the STEP program. Lisa has successfully completed many search assignments for the leading investment managers, private equity funds, investment banks owners and developers.
Earlier in her career, Lisa was a CPA with KPMG. She holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Hofstra University and a Masters in Taxation from CW Post/Long Island University.
Neda’s practice at Rhodes focuses on C-suite and senior-level executive search and recruiting, succession planning, organizational consulting, and strategic coaching. With a background in real estate law and administration, she brings a unique combination of transactional, leadership, and operations experience that has helped organizations grow profitably.
Before joining Rhodes, Neda closed $1.5+ billion in real estate transactions through her legal career as an attorney and subsequently General Counsel with Tahl Propp Equities. She later joined Douglaston Development as its Chief Administrative Officer overseeing the internal operations of the firm.
“I have built and played an integral part in successful cross-disciplinary real estate teams and leading organizations to profitability and growth,” says Neda. “Clients value that I provide solutions based on my deep understanding of each role and discipline within their organization and business culture. With my breadth of experience, I know how to get things done efficiently to fulfill their strategic needs, both organizationally and in placing the right professionals in the right seats.”
A firm believer in mentorship and “paying it forward,” Neda is the current Co-Chair of the Program Steering Committee for the Urban Land Institute-New York District Council and an ULI mentor. She is also a member of Women in Affordable Housing, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the New York City Bar Association.
Neda is a frequent speaker at industry events on such subjects as building strong teams, coaching, career advancement, and the state of the market, and has been in NYREJ’s annual Women In Real Estate-Professional Services and Women in Real Estate and Construction Services. Neda earned her law degree cum laude from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law after graduating from the University of Rochester with a BA in Political Science, cum laude and with High Honors.
With a strong background in financial operations, Paul joined Rhodes in 2018 where he quickly established a solid track-record of successfully identifying and recruiting talent for a broad range of real estate clients. His clients range from developers, owner/operators, and institutions to real estate investment managers, real estate funds, brokerages and banks across the country.
Paul’s experience covers all the major disciplines of real estate, including acquisitions, asset management, finance, and development/construction, applying his expertise to all levels of search, from associates to senior leadership. Before becoming a search professional, Paul worked in financial operations at both Dow Jones and BNY Mellon.
“I take the human aspect of this business seriously,” Paul says. “I’m in a unique position, executing on executive-level searches while concurrently providing guidance and mentorship to junior-level professionals just starting out in the industry. I take great pride in being a resource for my contacts, assisting them in any capacity, even when there is no immediate financial gain.”
In his free time, Paul volunteers as a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and he enjoys participating in recreational sporting leagues. He also continues to broaden his professional knowledge and capabilities by taking real estate courses at NYU’s School of Professional Studies. Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in business at Rider University.
Suzanne Mendelsohn has recently rejoined Rhodes Associates as a Senior Principal. Suzanne brings excellent relationship management skills along with a demonstrated ability to outperform and achieve successful conclusions to her assignments.
Suzanne has 20 years of experience successfully managing executive search and organizational consulting assignments across all sectors within CRE. Her knowledge extends across all disciplines of real estate, including both debt and equity investments, capital raising, development and redevelopment, asset/portfolio management, restructuring, workouts, and credit/risk management. Prior to rejoining Rhodes Associates, Suzanne was an Executive Search Consultant at Sousou Partners and began her career with Picard International. There she established a network of candidates to support retained search for top-tier strategy consulting firms, playing a key role for assignments ranging in level from partners to senior partners as well as team lift-outs.
Shelby Downs is a Vice President at Rhodes Associates. She is responsible for the management and execution of organizational consulting and executive search assignments from inception to completion, in all major sectors of the real estate industry, nationally.
Prior to joining Rhodes, Shelby was the Practice Director and Head of the New York Real Estate Group for a NY-based placement firm, where she was responsible for client management as well as the origination and execution of Real Estate search assignments including acquisitions, asset management, development, marketing, and capital markets.
Shelby’s early career in the real estate industry included working in various capacities for her family’s Florida-based private real estate investment and development company. After moving from Florida to New York, Shelby worked with Mogul Realty, managing leasing assignments, primarily in the retail sector.
Shelby earned her Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Economics from the University of Miami, Herbert School of Business.
Leina Braga is a global business leader who specializes in the field of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. At Rhodes, she helps client companies maximize retention by co-creating work cultures where diverse employees can be their full, authentic selves through strategic consultation, new hire mentoring, talent systems optimization, cultural competence and anti-bias training. Having passionately driven DEI work throughout her international career, Leina brings invaluable social capital and a unique multicultural perspective.
With years of marketing experience, she also oversees corporate branding strategy, creative direction, integrated marketing, digital design & development and social media marketing for Rhodes.
With an emphasis on empowering women and people of color around the globe to live fearlessly and advance their careers, Leina teaches courses on women’s leadership and heads an organization that promotes professional advancement for Brazilian women. Prior to joining Rhodes, Leina headed the International Recruitment Operation for Concordia College New York in India and Brazil. Her areas of expertise are transformational leadership, inclusion strategies, marketing, business development, and cross-cultural management. Leina holds a BBA and a master’s degree in Business Leadership.
Tripp Lyons is a Vice President at Rhodes Associates and is responsible for business development and assisting in the management and execution of search and organizational consulting assignments. Prior to joining Rhodes, Tripp has more than eight years of CRE transactional experience in areas such as capital markets, financing, leasing, and investment sales with firms such as Iron Hound Management, Ackman-Ziff, and Eastern Consolidated. As part of his responsibilities, Tripp focused on business development and was responsible for closing approximately $250M of assignments in both debt and equity.
Tripp graduated from Gettysburg College with a BA in History.
Alexandra Liberto is an Associate Vice President at Rhodes Associates and specializes in the field of research. She joined Rhodes in 2018 and has since expanded her role to oversee and contribute to the research function to successfully drive the executive search process from inception to completion. Alexandra earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Muhlenberg College in 2018.
Isabella graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and minored in psychology. She was a member of the Syracuse University Division I Volleyball Team, so working on a team is not foreign to her.
To Isabella, being able to partner with some of the most talented people in the industry is a privilege. She finds nothing more fulfilling than helping take someone’s career to the next level and following the success of those she works with in the value they bring not only to clients, but the real estate industry as a whole. Since joining the industry, Isabella has enjoyed that real estate is a constantly evolving world, which gives her insight and appreciation for the drivers of change and their impacts across all markets.
Kate Tarbell-Littman is an Associate Vice President at Rhodes Associates, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer to lead all day-to-day operations of the company.
Prior to joining Rhodes, Kate worked at the New York investment management office of a Middle Eastern-based wealth management firm, where she also completed the CFA Institute’s Investment Foundations program.
Kate earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management with a minor in Gender Studies from Skidmore College. While at Skidmore she was a member of their Division I Equestrian team.
Natalie is a Research Associate at Rhodes. In her role, she manages and executes real estate executive search assignments from inception to completion including candidate selection, report compilation, and sharing information to guide decision making. Natalie graduated from Quinnipiac University with bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Legal Studies. She was a member and captain of Quinnipiac’s Division I Volleyball Team. She enjoys working with the Rhodes team and developing the necessary skills and insights to grow within the real estate industry.
